Thrust roller bearings are used to withstand axial load-based shaft, radial joint load, but the radial load shall not exceed 55% of the axial load. Compared with other thrust roller bearings, such bearings have lower friction factors, higher speeds, and have self-aligning properties.

Due to its special design structure and load-bearing capacity, thrust roller bearings have the advantages of large load-bearing capacity, simple structure, low manufacturing cost, and long service life, and are widely used in heavy-duty machinery and large equipment. 

According to different structures and characteristics, thrust roller bearings can generally be divided into two categories: thrust flat roller bearings and thrust self-aligning roller bearings.

Thrust plane roller bearings have the characteristics of simple structure, low manufacturing cost, and large load-bearing capacity. The inner and outer raceways of the bearing are in linear contact with the rollers, resulting in a high coefficient of rolling friction. It is suitable for situations where the radial size of the bearing is small and the axial size is large. Common types of thrust flat roller bearings include models 81100, 81200, 89300, etc.

Thrust self-aligning roller bearings have the ability to withstand axial and radial loads, as well as maximum stiffness and reliability. Compared with thrust plane roller bearings, their inner and outer raceways are formed by an inclination angle rather than a right angle, which allows them to share a certain radial load when bearing axial loads. Common types of thrust self-aligning roller bearings include 29200, 29300, 29400, and other models.

1. Structural characteristics

The 80000 thrust cylindrical roller bearing and the 90000 thrust tapered roller bearing can withstand unidirectional axial loads. They have much greater axial load capacity than thrust ball bearings, and have greater rigidity, occupying less axial space. Thrust cylindrical roller bearings are suitable for low speed situations, with thrust tapered roller bearings having slightly higher speeds than thrust cylindrical roller bearings.

2. Retainer material

Most thrust roller bearings use solid cages made of steel or copper.

3. Allow tilt angle

Thrust cylindrical roller bearings and thrust tapered roller bearings are not allowed to tilt the axis between the shaft and the outer shell axis.

4. Minimum directional load

The thrust roller bearing is subjected to centrifugal torque during operation, causing relative sliding between the rolling element and the raceway, resulting in separation of the shaft and seat rings. To ensure the normal operation of the bearing, a certain axial load must be applied.

Minimum required axial load: for thrust cylindrical and thrust tapered roller bearings. When the actual axial load used on the bearing is less than the calculated minimum axial load, it is necessary to pre tighten the bearing using methods such as springs.
